The entry deadline for the Inspiring Women in Construction and Engineering is Friday 24 March. The winners will be announced at London Hilton Park Lane on 16 September .

Individual categories
Allyship Champion of the Year
This category looks to recognise an individual ally who has gone the extra mile to encourage greater diversity and inclusion in order to support women within construction and engineering. This category is open to anyone, as long as they can demonstrate consistent gender allyship.
Contribution to a Project
This category seeks to recognise women who work on projects, but not in a direct engineering or construction capacity, who still play a crucial part in project delivery. These might be project managers or those from other disciplines such as marketing, quantity surveying, cost management, supply chain management or data management.
Please note this category is for women who have worked in Industry for over 10 years. For those who are within their first 10 years of their career in the industry please enter the ‘Rising Star – Contribution to a Project’ category
Contribution to Gender Diversity
This category is open to any inspirational person, not just women, who have gone above and beyond to promote gender diversity through their own work within the construction or engineering sector.
Please note this category is for women who have worked in the industry for over 10 years. For those who are within their first 10 years of their career, please enter the ‘Rising Star – Contribution to a Gender Diversity’ category.
Inspirational Leader – Client
This is a category aimed at women in leadership positions within client or public works organisations who have used their positions to inspire and engage the workforce and improve outcomes for customers and their business.
Inspirational Leader - Consultant
This is a category aimed at women in leadership positions in engineering or construction consultants who have used their positions to inspire and engage the workforce and improve outcomes for customers and their business.
Inspirational Leader - Contractor
This is a category aimed at women in leadership positions in engineering or construction contractors who have used their positions to inspire and engage the workforce and improve outcomes for customers and their business.
Inspirational Leader – Supplier
This is a category aimed at women in leadership positions from all types of specialist suppliers who have used their positions to inspire and engage the workforce and improve outcomes for customers and their business.
Rising Star - Contribution to Gender Diversity
This category is open to any inspirational early career person, not just women, who have gone above and beyond to promote gender diversity through their own work in the construction or engineering sectors.
The entrant must have no more than 10 years of industry experience and the entry must be backed by a supporting testimonial. The 10 years excludes any career breaks.
Rising Star - Contribution to a Project
This category seeks to recognise early career women who work on projects, but not in a direct engineering or construction capacity, who still play a crucial part in project delivery. Rising Star - Technical Excellence
The Technical Excellence category for the industry’s rising stars seeks to celebrate women in the early stages in their career who are simply great in their specialist field, whether that’s geotechnical engineering, civil engineering, digital design, carbon reduction or construction on site. These nominees deliver excellence combined with innovation and collaboration to make a significant impact in the planning or delivery of a project.
The entrant must have no more than 10 years of industry experience and the entry must be backed by a supporting testimonial. The 10 years excludes any career breaks.
Technical Excellence
The Technical Excellence category is open to all types of specialist suppliers and seeks to recognise those who are simply great in their specialist field, whether that’s geotechnical engineering, civil engineering, digital design, carbon reduction or construction on site. These nominees deliver excellence combined with innovation and collaboration to make a significant impact in the planning or delivery of a project making them a critical role model for the industry.
Please note this category is for women who have worked in Industry for over 10 years. For those who are within their first 10 years of their career in the industry please enter the ‘Rising Star – Technical Excellence’ category.

STEM Champion
This category seeks to recognise an individual, not just women, who have gone above and beyond to promote the opportunities available to young people through STEM based studies and careers. Whether it has been through promoting science, technology, engineering and maths in schools and colleges or running outreach activities, this person has worked to encourage young people into STEM careers.
Please note this category will recognise individuals. For company or organisation initiatives encouraging young people into STEM careers please enter the ‘Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Initiative of the Year’ or ‘Excellence on Outreach’ category.
Unsung Hero
This category seeks to shine a deserving light on the remarkable contributions made by women occupying back-office and non-consumer facing roles, such as marketing, communication and office management. Often working diligently behind the scenes, these individuals play a pivotal role in steering and helping their organisations. This award is designed to honour those who consistently go above and beyond for their companies, but are not often recognised.
Organisation categories
Excellence in Outreach
This category looks to recognise teams, divisions or companies that have gone the extra mile to inspire women to consider a career in engineering or construction. Whether it is promoting science, technology, engineering and maths in schools and colleges, or mentoring work placements and new joiners or working with youth organisations, this organisation deserves recognition for encouraging women to take part in the engineering and construction sector.
Excellence in Mental Health and Wellbeing
This category looks to recognise teams, divisions or companies that have gone above and beyond to promote mental health support and wellbeing in engineering or construction. From pioneering educational programmes aimed at fostering awareness to providing robust mental health support and actively addressing bias surrounding mental health constraints, this award celebrates employers who are doing the best to support their workforce in these areas.
Excellence in Senior Leadership
This is a category aimed at leadership teams from engineering or construction firms who champion a more equal, diverse and inclusive workplace and use their positions to inspire and engage their workforce and improve outcomes for customers and their business. Whether it is promotion of women into senior positions or fostering inclusive leadership, this award seeks to recognise executive teams, management boards or senior leadership that champion women at all levels.
Please note this category is for leadership teams. To nominate individuals showing excellence in leadership please enter the ‘Inspirational Leader’ category.
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Initiative of the Year
This category is open to all types of companies working in the construction and engineering industry who can demonstrate excellence in equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) initiatives. Whether it is an initiative to improve diversity with leadership teams, recruitment or retention, this award recognises the industry leading EDI initiatives to further develop and encourage women within the sector. These initiatives could cover support for those going through menopause, flexible working, or schemes to help parents and carers.
Your initiative may come from head office, project delivery level or might also be as part of a partnership, framework or joint venture.
Inspiring Women – Organisation of the Year
This category is open to organisations that have made outstanding contributions to inspiring women within the construction and engineering sector. This prestigious award seeks to recognise the very best companies in the sector that have committed to providing an outstanding working environment for women and encouraging greater diversity and inclusion across their organisation.
This entry should demonstrate how a specific policy, or set of policies, has been introduced to promote fair opportunities for a diverse workforce.
Women’s Network of the Year
This category is open to all affinity groups and women’s networks that champion women and gender diversity within the sector or their organisation. The network might be a cross-industry group or is maybe a company-wide one developed by contractors, clients, consultants and suppliers working in the construction and engineering industry. The awards celebrates the employee teams that strive to ensure that the views of women are highlighted and drive change within their organisation or industry.
This award is open to women’s networks from employee teams and cross industry groups.
